Earlier this month, Victorian Planning Minister Richard Wynne approved Melbourne’s newest suburbs – Deanside and Fraser Rise (previously called Plumpton and Kororoit). Deanside and Fraser Rise will be developed over more than 10 years and will accommodate 20,000 dwellings and around 14,000 new jobs.
The new suburbs are part of the Victorian Government’s 100,000 lots of land program which aims to create more than 17 new suburbs across Melbourne by the end of 2018.
The new suburb of Deanside is facilitated by the Plumpton Precinct Structure Plan (PSP) which covers approximately 1,016 hectares of land. Fraser Rise is facilitated by the Kororoit PSP and covers approximately 925 hectares of land.
Deanside and Fraser Rise will be set alongside Kororoit Creek and the suburbs will feature 40 local parks, conservation reserves and a network of bike tracks and walking paths.
The planning framework for the new suburbs provides 100-hectate parcel of land for a business and commercial precinct adjacent to the Melton Highway. The plan also allows up to seven government schools and three non-government schools in the future.
Additional bus routes are being planned and will connect with other key centres such as Watergardens, Caroline Springs, St Albans and Sunshine.
Developers building Deanside and Fraser Rise will be required to pay $195 in Growth Area Infrastructure Contributions and another $395 in developer contributions to the City of Melton. The contribution to the City of Melton will pay for local infrastructure and land acquisition to deliver community services and facilities.
More information about these projects is available from the Victorian Planning Authority.
