Student Journey – Albert Lee

No matter how much experience you have in the construction industry, it’s difficult to get your Builders Licence without formal qualifications. Parker Brent student, Albert Lee learnt this valuable lesson 13 years ago when he migrated from Malaysia for career opportunities.

Albert had learnt the fundamentals of construction when he was living in Malaysia but followed his brother to Melbourne and soon afterwards began working for his construction company.

Over the next 2 years, Albert was working for a painter, then for a construction company. As he was gaining experience in carpentry and painting, the only thought in his mind was; “How can I become a builder?”

Albert started doing researching and came across Parker Brent. He enquired about the courses offered and felt that by enrolling with Parker Brent there could be a turning point in his life. He saw an opportunity to not only learn about building but also start working towards obtaining his Builder’s Registration.

“I couldn’t believe how reassuring it was that Parker Brent provided the Building and Construction Qualifications that I needed but they also helped me overcome any language barriers. The courses with Parker Brent taught me everything I needed to know about Domestic and Commercial Construction and how to deal with the challenges in the industry when running your own business. After I received my Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) and Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) qualifications, I applied for my Commercial Building Practitioner Registration. I’m now proud to say that I operate my own construction company and am a Registered Builder.”
