Chris Hunger is a former Parker Brent student who completed his Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) and Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) with us a few years ago.
Since completing both qualifications, Chris has gone onto become a Registered Building Practitioner leading the team at Gentrify.
Gentrify is a custom home building company based in South Yarra, Melbourne. The team specialise in many types of domestic developments including cosmetic and structural renovations, new house constructions, multi-dwelling developments and subdivisions.
Some of their recent works include a custom designed studio apartment in Lygon Street, Carlton North and another custom designed family home in Fyansford.
Here’s a little bit about these two projects:
Custom Designed Studio Apartment – Carlton North
Gentrify recently completed an architecturally designed self-contained studio apartment in Lygon Street, Carlton North.
What they’ve created is a stunning two storey spacious 1 bedroom studio apartment featuring high cathedral ceilings, built-in wardrobe, and storage cupboards. The kitchen and bathroom have been cleverly designed to optimise space, functionality and to allow for natural light. Careful thought was also given to the streetscape, so contemporary, urban character was displayed in the design to ensure the home harmonised with its surroundings.
The studio has its own access, meaning that the client is able to work from home and meet their own client’s onsite. The bedroom and ensuite upstairs enables the client to house guests or potentially supplement their income should they choose to rent it out in the future.

Custom Designed Home – Fyansford
Their other recent project is a custom designed home on a sloping block, located in the Gen Fyansford estate in Geelong.
Their client was a young family looking to create a unique home, using a variety of textures and finishes that seamlessly work together to achieve a contemporary aesthetic.
The home includes two large living areas, four bedrooms, two bathrooms, two powder rooms and a double garage. It’s both spacious and functional and with a 6 star energy rating, high quality double glazed windows and LED lighting to maximise energy efficiency.
